What We Pick Up and What We Can't

Furniture We Accept

We welcome gently used furniture in clean, functional condition. If it's something you'd feel good giving to a neighbor, we can likely use it.

  • Sofas, loveseats, and sectionals
  • Dining tables and chairs
  • Bedroom sets, dressers, and nightstands
  • Bookshelves, cabinets, and storage units
  • Desks and office furniture

Appliances and Home Goods

Working appliances and quality home goods move quickly at the ReStore and help fund the mission.

  • Refrigerators, washers, and dryers (must be in working condition)
  • Ranges and dishwashers
  • Lighting fixtures and ceiling fans
  • Doors, windows, and cabinetry
  • Plumbing fixtures in good condition

Building Materials and Hardware

Contractors, renovators, and homeowners completing projects often have surplus materials we can put to good use.

  • Flooring, tile, and lumber
  • Paint (unopened or resealed cans only)
  • Hardware, tools, and fasteners
  • Trim, molding, and architectural salvage

Items We Cannot Accept

To keep our ReStore running efficiently and safely, some items fall outside what we can take — even if they're in good shape. Please review this list before scheduling.

  • Mattresses or box springs
  • Upholstered items with stains, tears, pet damage, or odors
  • Tube televisions or non-functioning electronics
  • Hazardous materials including paint thinner, chemicals, or asbestos-containing products
  • Baby furniture including cribs and car seats
  • Items that require disassembly by our team on-site

How the Pickup Process Works

Scheduling a donation pickup with the Habitat ReStore is straightforward. Fill out the form below with your contact information, address, and a description of the items you'd like to donate. Our team will follow up to confirm a pickup date and time window that works for you. On the day of pickup, simply have the items accessible — near a door or in a garage — and our crew will handle the loading. You'll receive a tax-deduction receipt on the spot.

Your Donation Funds Affordable Homes Right Here

Every item donated to the Habitat ReStore in Danville has a second life — and a purpose. Revenue from ReStore sales directly funds our affordable homeownership program and the England Trail subdivision on Seminole Drive, where we're building 17 homes for working families in our community. Donating a sofa or a set of kitchen cabinets isn't just decluttering. It's a contribution to a neighbor's path to homeownership.

Frequently Asked Questions

What to Know Before You Get Started

  • Is the donation pickup really free?

Yes. There is no charge for pickup service. Our ReStore team comes to your location, loads the items, and provides a tax-deduction receipt at no cost to you.
  • How far in advance do I need to schedule?

We recommend scheduling at least one week ahead when possible, especially during busy periods. Fill out the form and our team will contact you to confirm availability and lock in a time window.
  • Can you pick up items from an apartment or upper floor?

In most cases, yes — though stairway access and elevator availability can affect what our team is able to safely move. Please note any access details when you fill out the pickup form so we can plan accordingly.
  • What happens if some of my items don't meet ReStore standards?

Our team will do their best to communicate before arrival if there are concerns, but if items are found to be unsellable upon pickup, we may not be able to take them. Reviewing the accepted and non-accepted items list above before scheduling helps avoid any surprises on pickup day.
